Introducing Byworth’s new team

Due to continued success and growth, Byworth Boilers introduces a new team to support its strategic vision to deliver more efficient, innovative and sustainable products and services.

The new leadership team will notably reflect the strategic importance of the company’s interaction with its customers and its ambition for constant innovation and change.

Our new team will comprise of the following:

  • John Hirst, Head of Sales, will oversee all sales functions which include product sales in both the UK and overseas, as well as our Training and Spares departments/divisions,
  • Jason Atkinson, Head of Technical and Product Development, will ensure our products and services are sector leading, whilst providing technical guidance,
  • Craig Woodman, Head of Outside Operations, will oversee our site installations and commissioning operations, as well as boiler repair work,
  • Richard Leeming, Head of Service, will manage our entire service offerings throughout the UK and Ireland,
  • Matt Child joins the team as Head of Finance.

Rob Baldwin and Gavin Hindle complement the team as Head of Production and Head of Contracts whilst performing their wider duties on the Board of Directors.

John Hirst began his successful career back in 2004 when he obtained “The Lincoln Electric CoVE Award for Welding Apprentice of the Year 2004/2005”. He went on to work at an engineering solutions company on commercial contracts throughout the UK.
Since his time at Byworth, John has acquired a unique underpinning knowledge of the industry, from his natural progression throughout the business. Having started in 2007 as a coded welder, to joining the sales team in 2013, John has a holistic view from steel plate to completed, onsite boiler-houses. This fresh approach/perspective has played an integral part in the enhanced customer experience that Byworth are delivering.

Jason Atkinson came through Byworth’s apprenticeship scheme and completed his electrical qualifications by 2010. This put him in good stead for the next 3 years which he spent commissioning new boiler plant at customer sites, along with other aftercare services as an Electrician/Service Engineer. Since then he has had a major role in the product development and ongoing sustainability of Unity, Byworth’s flagship control system. Unity has achieved exceptional results and won numerous awards including the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. He continues to be a major influence in Byworth’s New Product Development initiatives, which includes running extensive R&D works. Having the first-hand knowledge of what it takes to come through an apprenticeship and go on to contribute to the company’s overall strategic goals and visions, Jason has led our apprenticeship scheme since 2014. His approach to maintaining a high level of personal engagement and interaction with our apprentices ensures the utmost guidance and support is given to developing a talented workforce for Byworth or any other employer.

Craig Woodman joined us from his family-owned company, Boiler Engineering, where he was Managing Director, which Byworth acquired back in 2016. Boiler Engineering had been servicing steam boilers across Scotland and Northern England for over 40 years. During that time, Craig built a strong relationship with Byworth where they leaned upon one another for each other’s expertise. Craig brought with him an extremely high standard of service where he consistently surpasses customer expectations with his technical knowledge and aftercare relationships.

Richard Leeming joined Byworth in 2017 as Regional Service Manager. Prior to this, his breadth of experience within the HVAC and facilities sectors includes Service Engineer roles through to managing entire teams. He carries technical abilities to understand and meet changing customer requirements; this is married with a flair for leadership and a compassion to drive his team forward.
Due to these characteristics, Richard went on to become Byworth’s Operations Manager where he has implemented effective, progressive schemes. He has developed plans that are guaranteed to enhance our service offerings to existing and new customers alike.

Matt Child holds Fellow status at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has experience in all accounting functions with particular strengths in risk management and forecasting.

Gavin Hindle comments:

The breadth of experience, the leadership qualities, and values of this team give me a high degree of confidence in our ability to lead Byworth through the next phase of our strategic journey, with a stronger focus on our customers’ requirements and our innovative approach.  The team has been shaped – both in terms of the people and the allocation of responsibilities – with a view to ensuring that we will work and act collectively as one team to define and execute the Companies priorities, together with our employees and stakeholders.
