Babcock Wanson is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of Coil-type Steam Generators, Firetube Steam Boilers, Thermal Fluid Heaters as well as other fired process heating equipment. Working with the CEA we will very shortly be offering the new BOAS 5 Category training for owners and operators of coil-type steam generators.
At BK Labtech we offer a wide variety of training courses and also bespoke training which we can tailor to suit the needs of the client/business.
Currently we have Combustion and Emissions training, Fuel air ratio training, BOAS accredited courses including the BOAS International course, Boiler Operation and Maintenance courses and a number of bespoke courses designed to tailor specific training needs.
We train technicians and engineers to a highly skilled level.
Our vision is to inspire trainee and experienced personnel who work in the Combustion Industry, in order to increase reliability and maximise efficiency.
Blue flame associates offer I-GAS level 2 and 3 training and assessments at our specialist training facility in Newcastle, Staffordshire.
The training is provided by experienced Engineers with a wealth of industrial gas knowledge, which is complemented by our extensive practical facilities where theory can be put into practice. When training is completed the delegates will then progress to undertake the I-GAS assessments on separate equipment and will be able to show their competence in both practical and theory activities.

The CEA (Combustion Engineering Association) is a registered educational charity that aims to improve the understanding and development of the combustion industry.
Formed in 1933 to promote the science and best practice of combustion and engineering, their heritage and reputation goes back over 80 years.
I-GAS Industrial Gas Accreditation Scheme (I-GAS)
The CEA’s Industrial Gas Operations Accreditation Scheme (I-GAS) qualification has been devised in collaboration with industrial gas training providers, manufacturers of combustion equipment, and employers. It is the only formal training and accreditation scheme currently available that is specifically designed for maintenance staff and technicians working with gas in industrial premise.
Spirax Sarco has an international reputation for the quality of training it provides customers, designers, installers and users and maintainers of steam and condensate systems. Our aim is to ensure that you achieve the maximum benefit from your plant both efficiently and safely.
We are a leading provider of the BOAS and BOAS Renewal courses with a focus on total care throughout the process providing you with additional support at each stage where needed.
Training courses can be delivered at our state-of-the-art training facility where we have a working boiler house, demonstration rigs and practical areas or at customer site.
Our experience with the BOAS training and the stringent requirements of the CEA certification scheme for operators and managers has been a real benefit for us and how we operate the steam plant here.
The importance of having a firm handle on training of the personnel is evident and we will certainly use the training as well as the thorough assessment as a tool going forward to ensure our plant is operated and maintained in a safe and concise manner.
The Training Provider, and the Assessor has managed in a fluent way to provide firm advice on how we need to resolve gaps in skill sets and operational procedures to better our operation on top of the training package.
Having this type of service benefits every aspect of our operation.
Even has been awarded with his BOAS Managers Accreditation.

Each delegate was provided with a full set of delegate notes plus copies of all of the existing BG documents – a pack of information that if individually purchased would cost almost as much the delegate attendance fee. The event was strongly supported by the industrial partners and members of the CEA, who all had stands and expert staff on hand.
The above, coupled with an informal drinks reception, combined with an excellent venue, made this without a doubt the best two days of mechanical training I have attended in recent years.
The CEA are always on hand for advice and networking in other areas, on the recommendation of David Kilpatrick I have since started my team on an industrial gas qualification I-GAS, which is going well so far.
As a customer I have found the whole experience excellent and would most definitely recommend the CEA. Well done.
The whole event from start to finish was well organised and well presented with very knowledgeable people delivering the course content.
Having spent over 40 years working in site services provision I found the course very informative.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone even with several years of experience such as myself.
The format gave me the confidence to implement new testing techniques and to understand the importance of water treatment as an engineer and not as a chemist. A must for all boiler Operators/Managers.”
I was contacted by David Kilpatrick who recommended the BOAS accreditation for Managers, Supervisors, & Operators, which we completed.
I found the course very informative giving us an excellent understanding of BG01, with the benefit of having it delivered on our own premises.
My team have all given positive feedback on what they received.
The CEA is always on hand for advice and networking in other areas, on the recommendation of David Kilpatrick I have since started my team on an industrial gas qualification I-GAS, which is going well so far.
Membership also gives you the chance to get involved with the C.E.A. and help to make a difference. Their work on the Boiler Operator Accreditation, Boiler Feed Water (BG04) and Industrial Gas Accreditation Scheme (I-GAS) which needed members to get together and write and set up the system and documents. This needs input from experts in their respective fields as well as some input from the intended recipients. If we put nothing in ourselves to CEA we will get nothing out, so attending and taking part will help you, others and the C.E.A.
